Malhivern wild terracotta incense holder
Incense holder made of wild terracotta clay from the Malhivern forest, La Garriga (Barcelona, Spain). Fired twice, once in a manual gas kiln to 1050ºC in an oxidation atmosphere for 9 hours and lastly in a pitfire with pine wood for 3 hours. Hand formed with the kurinuki technique. This object is meant to hold incense or palo santo, the smoke of which will come out of the piece in a slow movement through the holes on its top.

Malhivern wild terracota clay was collected respectfully with the environment. Small amounts were extracted from low erosion risk sites, and without any landscape and ecological impact. Once gathered it was sieved in the studio to remove stones and roots.
